We had a great first semester on campus! We had a total of 3 wonderful lunch lectures spread through out the Fall of 2015. We had the opportunity to hear from a mother of a son with Down Syndrome, a Neurodevelopmental Disabilities Fellow at Children's Medical Center, and a researcher who uses mouse models to learn more about Prader Willi Syndrome!
Some other fun firsts for us:
We are excited for more to come in 2016!
Some other fun firsts for us:
- We had over 20 UTSW students become trained to be Night Owl Volunteers at the Highland Park United Methodist Church. Night Owls is a respite program for families with young children with special needs.
- We hosted our very own respite night on campus for families belonging to the Down Syndrome Guild of Dallas. We watched Inside Out, ate pizza, and enjoyed each other's company!
- We had 6 volunteers walk in the Autism Speaks fundraiser walk in Arlington, TX.
We are excited for more to come in 2016!
